Biography

John W. Hurney is an experienced civil
litigator who focuses his practice on complex litigation and
class actions, including business, insurance and contract
disputes, business fraud, serious personal injury, wrongful
death and product liability cases.
Since 2005, Mr. Hurney has served as an Adjunct Professor of
Law at Pepperdine University School of Law Faculty, where he
teaches with their Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution,
the Nation's premier Dispute Resolution Program. He has also
served as an arbitrator and a mediator for the Los Angeles
County and San Bernardino County court systems.
Mr. Hurney has represented some of America's largest
companies, including United Air Lines, Inc., Real Estate
Disposition Corporation, Granite Construction Company,
McDonald's Corporation, Brother Records, Inc. (the corporate
entity for The Beach Boys), AM Best Company, Century Surety
Company, Jack in the Box, Inc., Knight Transportation,
Foodmaker, Inc., Gold's Gym, Smith Food & Drug Centers, Inc.
and LA Fitness International.
He has excelled at both the trial and appellate levels. His
appellate decisions include a favorable Appellate ruling for
the Beach Boys, Brother Records, Inc. v. Gaba (9th Cir. 2008)
2008 WL 2649640.
Mr. Hurney also co-authored Beware of Opposing
Counsel Bearing Gifts, published in the Los Angeles County Bar
Association's County Bar Update, March, 2008.
